My husband retired 2.5 years ago and now he works 8 hours or more a day in a wood shop, he is starting to take commissions for his custom wood furniture and he is so happy. He was a highly stressed scrum master who had an exhausting commute. I work in InfoSec and I am looking forward to doing something radically different at retirement. I'm exploring non profits, expanding my shelter volunteer work, doing more writing, at a minimum finding a way to give back to my community and make a positive impact in a way that is not based 100% on shareholder value and increasing revenue. My mom is in her 70s and is now involved in a post suicide grief support group, she works with local police doing wellness checks on the elderly and she is incredibly busy. I think retirement is a good opportunity to take the skills we worked so hard to learn and build a bigger table for our fellow humans.
